1. Where is my company's information stored?
All of our software is web-based, and is therefore hosted on HireGround's servers. Can we have our information stored on our own servers? Yes. Is there an extra cost for what? Yes. Please Contact us for more information.
2. What kind of laws govern my information protection and your information protection policy?
Since we, and our servers, are located in Canada, all of the information stored in those servers are protected under the Canadian PIPEDA and FOIP laws protecting the privacy and information of both your company and your candidates.
3. Could you give me a breakdown of your servers?
The server machines: our central servers run on Dell server machines. These servers have redundant disks and redundant power supplies to maximize possible uptime. Along with an excellent reputation of Dell's quality is 24x7x365 service contract, meaning if the worst should happen someone will be fixing the problem no matter what time of day it is.
The server technology: all web components are served by load balanced servers running the newest version of the Apache web server. Apache serves more web sites than all other web server environments combined. For security, performance, reliability, flexibility, and cost (ROI) we serve our sites exclusively using Apache.
The operating system: the servers run on the Linux operating system due to its outstanding security, performance, reliability, and flexibility. HireGround stands among companies like Google, Boeing, IBM, DaimlerChrysler, and Sony that also use Linux for their critical services.
The infrastructure: At the core of the network is a managed Cisco Catalyst switch. This critical network infrastructure is backed by Cisco's reputation for intelligent network security and performance.
The database: Our redundant databases run PostgreSQL. We use PostgreSQL because it delivers enterprise-class performance, scalability, and flexibility, with platform agnostic deployment and Open Source licensing. Organizations that depend on PostgreSQL include the U.S. Centers for Disease Control, Apple, Safeway, Fujitsu, and Cisco.
5. Who owns the information on your servers?
Each companies' information belongs to them, respectively.
6. What kind of network do you use?
The network itself is housed in an enterprise-grade data center located in Calgary, Alberta. The secure nature of the data centre restricts physical access, and the climate control system guarantees sufficient hardware cooling. The fire prevention system is designed to protect all equipment from loss of data.
6. How often do you back up my information? Can I access that backed up information later?
To ensure availability of all services, all web and database content is mirrored over multiple physical servers. HireGround also backs up the databases and software to office servers daily. Backup files are available for download at any time using the Corporate Solutions Administration Centre.
7. What kind of security measures do you have in place to protect my company's data and candidates that apply?
All our services, no matter how small, are monitored constantly by a remote agent. If anything should go down, even for a minute, alerts are sent out and response teams are assembled to resolve the issue. All websites are served through the secure socket layer (SSL). SSL is the industry standard for encrypting web content and protecting the integrity and privacy of data transferred from the servers to other computers.
