For people with disabilities, finding employment can be difficult. For employers, hiring a person with disabilities can feel a little uncertain. Barriers continue to keep talented people out of the labour market in spite of Canada’s priority to invest in the skills of diverse minority groups (in particular, to bring Aboriginals, persons with disabilities and older workers into the mainstream workforce).
Champions Career Centre, a partner of HireGround Software Solutions, aims to resolve these concerns, and many others. Based in Calgary, Alberta, and Champions acts as a liaison between people with disabilities and potential employers, determining the skill sets and interests of disabled persons and providing employers with a skilled and diverse workforce.
For Employers, Champions is a stable and consistent resource to assist in both diversifying the workforce and accessing skilled candidates for ongoing needs.
For Candidates (persons with disabilities, or persons belonging to other minority groups), Champions focuses on identifying specific barriers that prevent employment for candidates. In response to these barriers, and to help break these barriers down, Champions is expanding training and apprenticeship opportunities for persons with disabilities.
Champions focuses on an individual’s ability rather than disability, and can inform employers, recruiters, and human resources representatives of this untapped resource for qualified workers. Having established a working relationship within the Calgary labour market, Champions continues to serve as a leader in providing ready, willing, and able people to fill skilled, vacant positions.
